As the oldest of the activities Istanbul Foundation for the Culture and Arts, and the forerunner of Istanbul Festivals, the Istanbul International Music Festival first was help in 1973. Amid the soloists that the Istanbul International Music Festival hosted in the Turkish city are figures like Elizabeth Scwarzkopf, Kathleen Battle, KiriTe Kanawa, Cecilia Bartoli, Itzhak Perlman, Montserrat Caballé, Mischa Maisky, Gidon Kremer, Maxim Vengerov, and Joshua Bell. The festival, which celebrated the 37th anniversary two years ago, is one of the members of the European Association of Festivals.
